XR5™ Overview

Image Intensifier Tube XR5The XR5™ Image Intensifier reveals more details of the night and offers eXtended Range capabilities.

We applied the latest technology to the XR5™, technology that enables the user to detect more details operation.

The prominent feature on the XR5™ is the integrated Auto-Gated power supply, facilitating operation under dynamic lighting conditions.

Auto-Gating constantly operates to improve the quality of the image, not only during day-night-day transitions, but also under dynamic lighting conditions, such as military operations in urban terrain which define many of today's mission.

Our XR5™ Image Intensifier represents the new standard for night vision and is available in a variety of inverting and non-inverting 18 mm formats (form - fit - function) for existing and new optical systems.

A special version of this application is available for Aviation and Special Operations purposes

XD-4™ Overview

Image Intensifier Tube XD4The introduction of the XD-4™ technology set the new European standard for low-light-level imaging.

XD-4™ Image Intensifiers perform extremely well in all environmental conditions.

Its broad spectral sensitivity range results in a perfect picture.

New production technology resulted in improved performance of the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), the Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) and Resolution.

Add to this features like the small halo and the extended lifetime and you will be convinced of its unique performance.

The XD-4™ is also available with an autogating power supply unit.

16mm overview

Size and Weight matter
The new 16mm Image Intensifier Tube by Elite Microwave has been designed to meet the new SWaP requirements of the modern armies: reduced Size, Weight and minimum Power consumption, still with state-of-the-art performance.
The weight of the 16mm Image Intensifier Tube has been reduced by 35 grams compared to standard ANVIS 18mm tube while its volume size has been reduced by 40%. ONYX Overview
ONYX is the optional black & white (B&W) vision of Elite Microwave.

Studies show that nighttime scenes appear remarkably more natural in B&W versus the usual green. Elite Microwave offers B&W Night Vision for them who want to have a natural vision at night. B&W provides clearer information about the contrast, shapes and shadows.

ONYX is available as option on XD4™ and XR5™.

ICU overview

Inverter Tubes ICUThe ICU (Intensified Camera Unit) is a new generation of low light level, fully automatic, gated intensified CMOS camera. With it's technology, small package size and low power consumption the ICU is a very powerful tool to meet the demanding requirements of today's defence imaging systems.

It provides exceptional video performance at illumination levels from full sunlight to overcast starlight and combines proprietary built-in protection of the image intensifier tube, which is unique in its market.

The 'snap-shot' and 'multi-frame' exposure modes make it ideal for under-cover surveillance operations and abandoned cameras for law enforcement and special operations where power consumption constraints are paramount.

GEN II Plus® overview

The basic Elite Microwave Netherlands B.V. design for use in Night Vision and Surveillance applications are the compact 18 mm format MCP Image Intensifiers.

These Image Intensifiers allow form-fit-function performance for replacement and upgrading purposes of existing equipment and can be supplied in a variety of mechanical standards

Image Intensifier Tube Super GenIn the SuperGen Image Intensifier we combined the improved sensitivity of GEN II with a best-of-class
resolution, signal-to-noise and MTF.

The SuperGen® tube’s improved sensitivity under wider spectral conditions provides enhanced contrast under all low light level conditions.

Special technology reduces the vulnerability for burn-in effects caused by higher light levels.

The SuperGen® Image Intensifier has a guaranteed minimal Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) of 18 at 108 μlx and a minimum
limiting resolution of 45 lp/mm.

Advanced Solutions overview

Elite Microwave offers a wide range of Intensified Digital Sensors (IDS).

IDS are the basis of many security and surveillance sensor systems as well as remote sensors for object security. Compared to conventional systems, IDS require less electronics to achieve better performance and they can be customised to match your specific requirements.

The small dimensions and rugged component structure allow system integrators to construct compact and high performance digital systems. Optional embedded camera system accommodate all the necessary functionality to facilitate a wide variety of signal output standards.

Add to this our Autogated power supply and you will extend the dynamic range of the system from low light-level conditions to broad daylight.

CMOS vs. CCD

Most intensified cameras use CCD sensors, with fiberoptic tapers glued directly to the chip surfaces. This provides more efficient coupling than lenses, if used for transferring an MCP output image to the sensor surface. CMOS image sensors (as compared to CCD) are usually "cameras-on-a-chip", with all analog circuitry hidden inside, requiring just single low-voltage power supply, accepting digital commands and generating digital output.

You usually pay a price for convenience - lower sensitivity and higher fixed-pattern noise - pixel-to-pixel variation of sensitivity and dark signal (pixel value when no light is applied).

CMOS sensors need a usefull amount of light to perform and our Image Intensifiers produce enough light for use with CMOS . "Enough" means that increasing sensor sensitivity will not produce additional information (because of the quantum nature of light detection on the MCP input) - similar to trying to increase contrast of a digital image when you already see brightness/color bands (steps) if the original image is too dim.

The limited dynamic range of CMOS digital outputs (usually 8-10 bits) perfectly matches (even slightly exceeds) that of the MCP. The fixed-pattern noise of these sensors is masked by that of superposition of patterns of micro-channels in MCP, fibers in its output (fiberoptic) window, fibers in the coupling taper and pixels in a sensor chip.

Note that fixed-pattern noise only looks nasty on the raw images; it is not a real (random) noise, and may be eliminated without any information loss by per-pixel calibration - a simple operation for a camera that has sufficient computational power and memory for storing an array of coefficients.

IDS offer the possibility of remote or shared observation - an essential feature in surveillance and defence applications, when the discretion and safety of the observer is paramount.

IDS also allow electronic video processing (computed colours, symbology...) and sensor fusion (e.g. thermal imagery and image intensification) and projection of all that aggregated data on a HUD-type of viewer.

The design of each element of an IDS (IIT, CCD or CMOS and video processing electronics) must be carefully tailored for each application.
