Sensors
Among the wide variety of sensors, the pressure sensor
uniquely touches all facets of daily life. Air pressure, gas
pressure, hydraulic pressure, water pressure, and blood
pressure are just a few examples where we depend on the
information from pressure sensors to be accurate, reliable
and fast.
Fujikura silicon piezoresistive pressure sensors are
designed and manufactured incorporating the best
semiconductor technology available to meet today's demanding
requirements of high accuracy, low cost and high
reliability.
In order to meet our customer's diverse needs, Fujikura
provides sensors at many performance levels from our low
cost, unamplified pressure sensors to our fully integrated
transducers with all circuitry on-chip. We are confident
that the full range of Fujikura pressure sensing products
can meet both your technical and budgetary needs and we hope

Based on the piezoresistance effect, fujikura's silicon
pressure sensors are piezoresistive sensors. A diffusion
strain gauge on the surface of a silicon wafer is formed
using the same manufacturing technology used in the
integrated circuit industry. The silicon itself is then
thinned by an etching process and formed into diaphragms
which differ in size and thickness depending on the intended
pressure range.
Applied pressure deforms the diaphragm thus causing the
resistance of the diffusion strain gauge to change. This is
the piezoresistive effect. Using the basic principle that
voltage is the product of current and resistance, we know
that the voltage output of a sensor powered by constant
current will change proportionately to the change in
resistance caused by the pressure. Silicon piezoresistive
pressure sensors are more sensitive and smaller than
conventional strain gauges and are also much more reliable
and repeatable over hundreds of thousands of pressure
cycles.
At Fujikura, we make sure that our manufacturing techniques
are consistent and reliable so that we can guarantee the
dependability of each and every sensor we ship to our
customers. Extreme care is required in the manufacture and
quality control of semiconductor pressure sensors. As there
are specialized techniques for making and building pressure
sensors, Fujikura has developed these fundamental skills in
the art of sensor manufacturing which differ from those used
in the production of other types of semiconductor devices.
From the silicon wafer etching process to assembling,
testing and inspecting of the completed sensors and
transducers, Fujikura implements consistent manufacturing
and inspection techniques developed, refined and perfected
through years of experience. In fact, we have designed
specialized testing and inspection equipment to assure
conformance to Fujikura's strict quality guidelines which
apply to both sensors and all other products manufactured by
Fujikura. You can depend on it.
Fujikura is responsible for consistent production
throughout, from the silicon wafer process to assembly to
inspection.
Extreme care is required in the manufacturing and
quality control of the semiconductor pressure sensor. As
there are special manufacturing and constructive processes,
different from the manufacture of general semiconductor
devices, our specialized knowledge is necessary.
In order to provide more reliable pressure sensors, Fujikura
proceeds with its manufacturing under consistent techniques,
from the silicon planer process to assembly to inspection,
under the responsible guidelines that were established
